The culture of Ubuntu- its time we stand together and fight

Why do we keep preaching the gospel of ubuntu? We lost the basics of ubuntu long time ago. It took a village to raise a child and your neighbor’s problems were your own but today we have words like “child –headed household”

Valentines Day is a day on which people should appreciate one another.

Ubuntu which means humanity goes together with peace, you can’t have peace in your life if you are missing the culture of ubuntu, and you will never find happiness, respect and love. We come from different backgrounds but doesn’t mean we should be not world be apart. As we grown up we tend to see things differently. Ubuntu (humanity) doesn’t only apply at home or in villages we live in but to our organizations also. It all starts by greeting each other even if you don’t know the person, smile and show love. In this generation none of things happen even to older people, what have gone wrong? The elders are blaming younger generation and the young generation blames the elders. We all blame each other instead of finding the solution,’ maybe the world is really coming to an end.

Crime is increasing everyday; the animals will never cause crime, its people who are the cause of crime, we are killing each other, fighting with one another. You can’t even trust your relatives, because you will never know when they will turn your back on you. If we can all stand together and fight this evil inside us we can live happily, we were all created by one person imagine how he feels when are treating each like this. We are a color of one blood; all we need to do is fight and learn to trust each other.

Two people come out of a building and into a story

It was a Saturday afternoon when my neighbor was hosting a party; his daughter’s 21 birth day. It was a big party, everyone was enjoying as there were lots of drinks that were served (including wine, juice, alcohol etc).  The weather was hot.  The music was very high no one could sleep that noise, because they party until the evening. 

There was this old woman who was passing by, she couldn’t resist hearing the noise, so she went to the house and ask if they could turn the music down, but Zintle’s parents told her to get lost and mind her own business or she can join the party, she was devastated and she say these words “this party of yours will end up in violence and you will be crying and blaming yourself’’. She said those words in an angry manner and leave. The question is what happens when you don’t listen to old people when they are talking?

The party carries on as usually, but during 9:00pm it was time for Zintle’s speech, but she was missing, everyone was looking for her until 12:00 am, by that time the party was already over, they call her but her phone was off, they went to sleep not knowing their daughter was, they called the police to search for the girl. The next morning they were called to come to the police station to identify the body of a naked woman if its not their daughter, when they enter you can only the screams, that tells you its her, her hands and private parts were cut off. No one knows who did that, until they went to the traditional healer, they were told it was the woman they have conversation with during the party, but they could not provide evidence to the police. It was difficult to deal with the loss and knowing that the woman could not be arrested. They pray until one day the old woman came into their house and told them their daughter is alive. How? The parents didn’t want to believe it, the woman told them I took your daughter while she was outside and I use my muthi to call her, but she’s unable to comeback because you already bury her, or she can come back when the old woman die of sickness.

This is true story. After five years the woman dies of cancer, after three months the girl came back. It was the story of a girl who came back from dead.

We are time wasters

Time is something that never comes back, it always going forward. It’s like missing your last train to home, as it will never comes back, but it will come on the next day, perhaps everyone waste time without noticing. Time is everything, no business; organization etc can function without time. Have you ever wonder how will it be if there is no time? Maybe we will have an answer if the whole world can switch off the watch for one day.

We are time wasters, if you just cleaned and after two minutes someone just split the water on the floor, you will call everyone and ask who did that, maybe you ended u having an argument for 30 minutes, instead of taking a mop and wipe the floor. That is one of the unnecessary things that we waste time on. Arriving at work 30 minutes late, but you never leave 30 minutes later. Some people argue that time can not be replaced.

It’s the ignorance that makes us lose time; time cannot be controlled, but can be managed. People often develop a time log for them, but they are the ones who always complain about not getting eveything done r running out of time.  Time was not made for animals, but for people in order to maintain peace and order.

We are not getting younger; you only become 16 years once. Therefore you must start caring about time. Most people used to say time is money- that is true, because businesses lose money if time is not managed. 

Time is everywhere on Radio, TV’s, and watch and in our organization. It is important to keep track of time every time and everywhere.

Use your own abilities and improve your life

Most people never realize how privileged they are until they lose they lose the support they were getting.  When they are enjoying the support of others, they ignore their opportunities, But they often regret it when they it when they are no longer getting the support.

Too often we start realizing how our hands would help improve our lives when they are no longer functioning. We often forget that if you have both hands there is nothing you can't do if you set your mind to it; we make things impossible for ourselves then blaming each other for our mistakes, instead of finding the solution. Sometimes it’s important to take a close look to your hands and ask yourself what is the purpose of having them?

Many of us are suffering because we fail to utilize our natural abilities.

People who expect things to be brought on a silver platter never realize their potential. I wonder why many people have the confidence to do things when they can't, while those who can do things lack the confidence.

We need to seek ourselves. Everyone of us has a specific ability, as long as you are feeling well, there is much you can produce. Don't make yourself a burden to others. The more the adults we have, the more the state becomes bankrupt. Capitalize on your privilege and improve your life.

We are all attracted to things that are design by certain people.  One of my friends was getting married; she wanted her own style of design, which is totally different from other weddings. She took a paper and a pencil and start drawing the plan and outfit of her big day. Although she was busy preparing she didn’t have a specific plan.

From what I have learn in PR you can’t organize something without a proper planning, even if you have years in experience. The day before the wedding she was supposed to have everything in place, but I didn’t work out that way, her dress was still with the designer, the food was not delivered and the wedding was less than 12 hours away. Is it because she wanted her own style or is it because she didn’t have a proper plan?  People come with different suggestions and guess what she took all of them, not choosing which one is the best, you know why because she was under lot of pressure. If you take all the suggestions that people tell that could ruin everything, what an embarrassment.

Public Relations should be proper organized and well planned. Designer PR involves planning. You cannot start something without designing that is why I made an example of a wedding, because she has her own style design but she didn’t a specific plan or she never followed her plan.  You can build a house, but how do you want it to look.  That is what I think Design PR is.

If I were the boss

If I were the boss, I will lay down rules and make sure that everyone abides by the rules of the organization, to be a boss does not mean, you should judge, criticize other people. If I were the boss I will make sure that I set a good example to my employees. Respect and great everyone, when I report to work. I will not allow my personal life to interfere with my work. Send a report if I’m not coming to work before my shift start.

I’ve seen people who don’t respect their employees, don’t take their opinions or views into consideration that can help the organization to improve. I will ensure a safety and health environment. Avoid making mistakes unnecessary mistakes. Make myself available for my team or my employees because when you a manager or leader, it’s easy to get so wrapped up in your own workload if you don't make yourself available to your team. Yes, you have projects that you need to deliver. But your employees must come first - without you being available when they need you, your employees won't know what to do, and they won't have the support and guidance that they need to meet their objectives.

I am

I am means being honest about yourself. Be what you want to be in life no one can take that away from you. You can achieve anything if you are not honest about yourself, believing in you and trust yourself it’s what you are.

I am a woman who is passionate about life, I respect other people, I make my own decisions and my own mistakes, but I don’t make people suffer for my own my own mistakes. I am very confident of who I am. You can criticize me, but show me where have I’ve gone wrong. We were all born to make mistakes, but the best thing is to learn from those mistakes. Life is full of good and bad surprises but I always go with the ones that define me. I don’t give up easily or give up at all, I fight until the end. This world needs people who are strong that can overcome any obstacles that come in your way. I am intelligent woman; I don’t rely to other people. I don’t judge other people.  I am a proud woman, who needs support just like every woman; I wasn’t born alone, I’ am surrounded by people. My family is everything to me.

The person I am today, it’s the person I will always be.
